Aerochamber

Aerochamber is a spear that can be more suitable for children. Parents find it easier to hold with one hand as it is smaller. It comes in different sizes: baby, child and adult and includes a mask, and it fits all inhalers. But it is not available on prescription.

Makeshift spacers can be devised very quickly in an emergency when ou do no have the real thing to hand. Take a large disposable drinking cup. Make a hole in the bottom of it and push the mouthpiece of the aerosol through it. This should create an air chamber into which the medicine can be puffed. You use the open end of the cup like a mask. This do-it-yourself spacer does not, of course, have the advantage of the valve system but it creates the airspace which traps the medicine, allowing you to breathe in and out without worrying about coordination. This can obviously take some of the panic out of a sudden or severe attack.
